“I’ve put my credit card in your bag so tomorrow you can buy what you want,” Eli said when I went into the bedroom last night.

He had taken my clutch into the room while I was busy putting things away in the kitchen and the sweetheart that he is, did what he did.

He has this double standard when it comes to money. And I guess I should be very pleased, as I’m sure my mom is, that my money is my money and his money is mine. Eli refuses to let me pay for anything of his, mine or ours and from the very beginning of our relationship, has always put my purchases on his account.

This doesn’t make me feel less of a person or an individual. This does make me question couples that have a very clear division of finances.

I’m thankful for Eli’s generosity and I do feel bad that he works so hard for the both of us. And in no way do I underestimate the value of money.

I guess I’m the savings account while he’s the chequing account!
