First brush with the dreaded HST & Happy Canada Day!

Shame on me for Eli’s Mediterranean stomach can stomach Korean spicy food better than my Singaporean stomach can.

Dinner at a remote, almost deserted Korean restaurant turned out to be a surprisingly tasty meal.

I don’t know why we visit Korean restaurants because we don’t eat chilli hot food. We eat plenty of garlic and onion, but those are about the only kind of “spicy” we can take.

Noticing that we were struggling to decide what to eat, the sole server came up to us and asked very politely, “Having trouble with the menu?”

She pointed out the top two most popular non-spicy dishes and Eli was all ready to go with them. But me, I was sulking and half hoping the server would come back later just so I won’t be pressured into ordering something I did not really want to.

I was hesitant to order both of her recommendations because they were both “soy bean stew” base. Unfortunately, it sounded like the best amongst the rest, so I went with it.

It was, astoundingly good! I thoroughly enjoyed my L.A. BBQ ribs as well as Eli’s BBQ Mackerel.

We could skip the appetizers because this Korean restaurant served some flour thing in place of the sweetish potatoes that I dig.

The meal came with spicy Korean soup, which was nothing to rave about. However, it did make my stomach cramp not too long after paying the bill.

And the bill! OMG! We are now paying 35-percent on top of the listed menu price. 13-percent goes straight to the government, who would tax us another 43.7-percent of our annual income because:

Hey guys, congratulations on making enough money to pay off your debt, pay the down payment for your marital home and save enough for your wedding! Now, give me half of the cash you made. Doesn’t matter that it would put you back into debt ’cause we’re a welfare state and we need to pump more money into Insite, to pump more drugs into the druggies!

Well done, Canada! Oh, and “Happy Birthday”!
