Baking ain’t no therapy but cheesecake suppresses frustration

Ever heard the saying that baking can be therapeutic? While I guess it is a very individual therapy and what works for one might not work for the other (haha! What’s new?), I have always known that baking could never really be therapeutic for me.

In my attempt to make a no-bake cheesecake, I ruined the gelatin mixture and burnt an aluminum pot. Needless to say, the entire package, a very expensive package, of gelatin went on to choke the sink.

I have such fond memories of making no-bake cheesecake on a random Sunday afternoon, you know? Once in awhile, Mom and/or Dad will pop in and help me out. The family will dig into the cheesecake after family prayers on Sunday. Sometimes the crust has a salty patch but everyone continues to stuff their faces.

While the cheesecake is yet to be complete because I had to improvise and dig into the pantry, praying for a jello mix, today’s cake making experience doesn’t contain a speck of fondness. I am really frustrated and a tad tired.

I acknowledge that it isn’t just the ruined gelatin (and bad preparation instructions on package and recipe) that is annoying me. I am distracted by something. I don’t know what exactly it is but my mind is just blank. I am feeling blah.

Fortunately, I found a package of jello in the back of the pantry. I just hope it turns out well and at least I will get to suppress the blah feeling with a heavy cheesecake.

p.s. I don’t think I will attempt to use gelatin again. Too messy, foul smell and it is much cheaper to substitute it with jello too.
