Seven Days to Christmas!
What better way to prepare for the Christmas season than to be gently reminded of the spirit of Christmas, amongst which are faith, hope and peace with the birth of Jesus Christ our saviour?
The weekend before Christmas had me ankle-deep in art materials, putting the final touches to the hand-made cards and jazzing up boring gift boxes. I had started the morning early but time was quickly shifting under my feet. I was starving but not willing to stop to hunt for food.
My sweetheart Eli surprised me at the door with delectable Mankoushe – traditional Lebanese breakfast. I was under the impression that he was many cities away running errands!
Over a late breakfast of cheese and meat on pita bread, Eli asked if I would like to attend a Christmas musical later in the evening. I was beyond thrilled!
Musicals are one of my favourite entertainment of all time! Marry it with Christmas and I am definitely there!

Christmas at the Galaxy, a Christmas musical put up by the Willingdon Church in Burnaby, British Columbia is a heartwarming, set in downtown Vancouver tale of a Dawson Creek young lady seeking an opportunity in entertainment as a singer on a radio show. Travelling by bus, she gets to Vancouver late and misses her audition. Jobless, alone and homeless, her unwavering faith saw her through her entire ordeal. She prayed and kept the faith that her life is for a purpose, a purpose far greater than she understands. In times of financial difficulties, she prayed. In times of trial, she prayed. And doors always opened up for her.
Not only is this story one that reminds us to keep the faith and live in joyful hope, it reminds us that no good deed goes unnoticed. The girl is given shelter and a job by a kind lady and her husband. When the lady and her husband run into hardship, the girl’s parents swooped in to turn their lives around.
I really enjoyed the musical. The dancing and singing were very professional. And I really like the full orchestra and band that ran the entire show. It is hard to believe that every cast member is a member of the Willingdon Church, but they are. Some of them are professional entertainers but some are not. The lead actress is actually a teacher in training!
I did also like dressing up and in the arms of my beloved, spend a classy Christmasy night full of bright lights and good music.
