AHHH SUMMER! The weather as finally warmed up enough for us to hit the beach! Packing a macaroni salad, chips and fruits, Eli and I headed to Jericho beach this lovely weekend for some sun shower. The beach was filled with families, BBQ, birthday parties and Beach Volleyball Tournament.
Did you know, Eli is an avid volleyball player who played at a professional level as an undergraduate? While I, am one of those cartoon characters who sends the ball flying behind me.
I couldn’t resist acting like an annoying girlfriend, repeatedly tugging at Eli’s arm and yelping, “Sand! Sand! The sand is touching my toes!â€
Like jailbirds out on a get out of jail free card, Eli and I were excited to be eating outdoors. However, neither of us remembered a picnic mat. Fortunately for quick thinking, we kept our eyes peeled for any store that could possibly carry a piece of fabric large enough for us to sit on. We were in luck.
Salvation Army Thrift Store has all the treasures! Within minutes, we found ourselves the perfect picnic blanket. Formerly a luxurious bed cover, now our spill and sand resistant queen-sized picnic mat.
Oh yes, my man is the perfect gentleman who played along with my sand-toe nonsense rather than telling me to eat sand.
