Tonight, I finally understood what “Flying Without Wings” means. Despite being an ace literature student, I never got the actual meaning of that metaphor!
Flying Without Wings, a song made famous by popular Irish boyband, Westlife, had its metaphor lost to me until I met the love of my life who said the words to me and a bright light went on in my head. I am forever enlightened.
Tonight! Propped up on my right elbow and admiring Eli’s beautiful brown eyes, Eli broke into poetry. A poem made up of words that he strung together impromptu.
One of the lines was: You make me fly with no wings.
And just like that, I finally understood the meaning of “Flying Without Wings”.
Now the Westlife song makes so much more sense! I mean, I got the whole song, just not the title, you know? And boy do I not miss those days of childish infatuations.
