Finally de-cluttered

I finally got down to clearing my room. And this is a big deal.

I realized why I am always hesitant and lazy to clear my room. I accumulate things so quickly that it is actually scary to try and clear out my room. Things get cluttered in one corner and then the other, and are soon forgotten.

My room is my living quarters. I spend all my alternate time in it. It is where I do most of my writing. And it is also the space where I get creative. I play with paint, glitter, glue and little bits of material on my carpet floor, with nothing to protect the carpet. Initially, it wasn’t a problem because I was always somehow able to keep the carpet clean. Then one day, a blob got on the carpet and over time, blobs just started showing up and I stopped cleaning up.

Today I went through the pile of things that had accumulated in all corners of my room and threw out a lot of papers that had no business being in my room. I also stuffed a lot of stuff into my closet. Good and bad thing is that the closet space I have here isn’t huge and I tend to leave the closet door open, so there is really no place to hide any embarassing mess.

I also took some time to plan and decide where to move my bed. I find that there is much wasted space with the bed in the middle of the room, and not at length with the dimensions of the room. However, there is not much I can do about the orientation of the bed because I need a wall at the head, the foot must not face the door and the windows must be easily accessible.

I moved the bed further from the door by a foot and I think it already gives the illusion of much more space. Helps that I cleared out the adjacent corner too.

I did also flip my mattress. All by my mighty self. I neatly put on the skirt to my bed, and laundered the quilt cover. I am domesticated.

The vacuum cleaner behaved itself today and did a good job in picking up hair and woolen clumps that have fallen off my blanket. The room isn’t as ideal as I would like it to be right now, but this is good. I just wonder how long it would stay this way, with no clutter and no hair on the floor!
