Burnaby Mountain Park: Kite flying

One crazy summer afternoon, Eli and I travelled far and wide across Vancouver and the surrounding cities in search of kites. Who knew it would be so difficult to find one? A quick mobile Google did nothing to help us. We eventually found a highly limited selection at Toy ‘R’ Us. The cashier told us she has the same kite and it flies really well, making her the envy of other kite flyers. We got some extra long kite strings because we are ambitious newbies.

We didn’t quite successfully fly the kite along the beach earlier in July, but today, on a chilly windy day in September, Eli and I visited Burnaby Mountain Park and let the kite soar.

It was still a challenge! Who knew kite flying was such a cardio activity?! I had fun nonetheless, watching Eli chase down the kite, admiring the beauty that is the love of my life and occasionally doing some actual kite flying.

There is something really captivating about kite flying. It is so innocent, liberating yet challenging both mentally and physically. I think kite flying might just be one of the most therapeutic way to be happy and get away from the pressure of society. Inexpensive and does not dull the mind!

To refuel, we were aiming to get some bubbletea, however we were hijacked midway and ended up at a pricey Korean seafood hot pot restaurant where we dined on lobster, scallops, crab and shrimps. Sorry, too busy eating to take photos. But next time! We might visit it again for some tongue-numbing Korean hot pot!
